Grass Jelly (Mesona Chinensis type) also knows as 凉粉 / 仙草 (chinese), Cincau Hitam (Indonesian) , Suong Sam / Suong Sao (Vietnamese). It made by boiling the aged and slightly fermented stalks and leaves of Mesona Chinensis for several hours with a little starch. It will be in black color liquid and then we cooling it and become a jelly-like consistency. This jelly can be cut into cubes or other forms to mixed with syrup as a refreshing drink or dessert. It's cooling (yin) effect make it best consumed during hot weather or fasting break (buka puasa) for moslem. The jelly itself has a slight bitter taste and a light iodine lavender flavor.
